Technical Graduate Programme

Passionate about technology? You’re in the right place ...

Technology is at the heart of everything we do. It forms the basis of our surprising solutions and innovations, and it offers a wealth of career opportunities to those with the commitment, passion and technical aptitude to succeed in often demanding market sectors. There are a number of directions you can potentially choose, and our trained assessors will work with you to identify which areas of the business would be a good match for you.

Engineering

Our Engineering teams are responsible for delivering a wide variety of services across Europe. You’ll spend your time on the programme becoming one of CSC’s highly respected subject matter experts in one of the following fields:

Networks: You might find yourself delivering LAN, WLAN, remote access services and firewall operations or supporting one of our other areas. We work closely with our clients to ensure that our solutions and services meet their client requirements.

Mainframe: The Mainframe Service Centre is responsible for ensuring that CSC EMEA provides world-class mainframe services to our clients. It also provides Z-Linux platform services.

Midrange: The Midrange Service Centre is responsible for the installation and support of UNIX and AS400 servers. CSC in the UK has over 4,000 UNIX servers of every type (SUN Solaris, IBM AIX, HP, HP-UX, Linux, Redhat, etc.) and level of hardware, from 1 CPU standalone servers to high-end, clustered and complex environments.

Wintel: We have over 12,000 Wintel servers running on multiple hardware vendors and levels of hardware, from 1-CPU standalone servers to high-end, clustered and complex environments. Active directory, Citrix, VMWare, and Microsoft Exchange are a few of the key products we use.

Storage: The Storage Service Centre is responsible for the installation and management of storage, including high-end Terabyte network attached storage farms. It’s also responsible for the backup and recovery of data.

End User: ETS is responsible for ensuring that all ETS functions are delivered in a repeatable and cost effective manner across EMEA, ranging from desktop and laptop Standard Operating Environment builds through to desktop application packaging.

Messaging: The Messaging and Collaborative Service Centre is responsible for the delivery of all messaging and collaborative services across EMEA, including all Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange technologies. Local Delivery: Local Delivery Centres provide local support at CSC and client sites, deploying, installing and repairing desktops. They also provide first-touch server services.

Solutions Architecture

Our infrastructure solution architects have direct contact with clients as part of our project work. They are responsible for all aspects of the technology infrastructure design – capturing the client requirements, translating these into technical solutions and taking the infrastructure solution from concept to creation.

Your first assignment will be delivered as part of a client delivery team, working with the lead architect, project managers and engineering teams. You’ll help to deliver the most appropriate technology for the solution whilst ensuring that the design integrates with existing technology and future client requirements.

In due course, you will become a Junior Project Architect. Typically you will be on your first assignment for six months before moving onto another diverse project, either with the same client or a different one, which will allow you to gain exposure to other aspects of the work that we do here at CSC.

Systems Transformation & Integration

As part of our Systems Transformation & Integration team, you could find yourself:

To ensure that you can deliver the very best service to our customers, we will provide a comprehensive programme of formal and on-the-job training and mentoring.  Ultimately, you could choose to become one of our key technical specialists. Alternatively you may prefer to move into areas such as Business Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, IT Service Management or Project Management.
