Business Graduate Programme
What can we say about joining as a graduate in this area? Immersed in some of the core divisions of our company, you’ll pick up invaluable knowledge through real work in real situations. Each of the business streams promises you a breadth and depth of insight you probably wouldn’t find elsewhere.
Project Management
We are looking for graduates who are keen to develop into strong project managers capable of delivering complex IT projects to budget, on time and to the customer’s satisfaction. Successful applicants will undertake a series of assignments, in conjunction with the needs of the business, covering project initiation through execution to closure.
Our aim is to develop a core of highly skilled, highly motivated professionals with a blend of technical, practical, academic and business, so they are equipped to gain industry accreditations and to be key players in the long-term future of our business.
If you have been paying attention to the business news recently, you’ll know that there are major strategic changes underway in the UK Identity and Passport Service, BAE Systems, British Nuclear Group, National Grid, Network Rail, Royal Mail Group, Transport for London and, of course, the NHS. CSC is at the forefront of such critical change programmes for these and many other clients – and that’s just in the UK.
Managing the huge number of individual projects that contribute to these change programmes requires answers to many questions. What is within the scope of the requirement, and just as important, what is excluded? What technical and business solution are we proposing? Which skilled resources will we need to deliver the project, and will they be available at the right time? Will there be a need to enter into partnership with other suppliers? What are the risks and issues relating to the project, and how will we actively manage them? Who are the key stakeholders for this project, and how will we keep them informed? What quality management systems will we use to ensure first-class results? And, of course, how much will all this cost, and how will we control those costs?
The person responsible for control and management of this complex challenge is the project manager. Take a few minutes to read about what our current project management graduates have been getting up to recently, and what they think of the whole experience.
Graduate placements in project management deliver structured development, including ‘on the job’ experience as well as formalised training – providing the basis for industry-standard accreditation, and culminating in a permanent project management role.
If this is the kind of challenge that gets you fired up every morning, and you would welcome the opportunity to explore the varied career opportunities in project management, then we should talk.
Regional Service Delivery
It is an exciting time to join CSC. We have implemented an aggressive growth strategy across all sectors of the business and expanded the technology-enabled solutions we provide to our clients. However, these initiatives alone are not enough, we have to be able to maintain strong relationships, connect with our customers and deliver a consistent and reliable service.
The regional service executives are an essential component of the Client Relationship team, and pivotal to the success of CSC. The regional service executives work closely with our customers, taking full responsibility for delivering leading edge services to their businesses. This involves directing teams of technical experts to meet the needs of the customer and ensure the services committed to the customer are delivered to the highest of standards. Excellence in service provision sets CSC apart from its competitors, and it’s the regional service executive that makes this differentiator a reality.
If that isn’t exciting enough, Regional Service Executives also have responsibility for ensuring the services provided by CSC to its clients are profitable, without compromising on quality or efficiency. But it’s not just about meeting customer expectations: it’s about exceeding them. This level of commitment is reflected in the fact that CSC has successfully renewed 100% of its contracts with its existing customer base.
No two days are the same. You could be leading a cross-functional technology team restoring services to a major client one day, and working with the business development teams to create innovative future services to deliver new benefits to customers the next. The work is always varied and there is never a dull moment.
Graduate placements in Service Delivery offer the opportunity to work on different client accounts across the region. Opportunities exist at all stages in the service lifecycle including business development, service transition and transformation and ongoing service delivery.
Underpinning this is a career development framework with a structured development scheme focussed on excellence in service delivery, including ‘on the job’ experience and completing industry recognised qualifications in ITIL.
Excelling in Service Delivery takes confidence, excellent communication skills, calmness under pressure and natural business acumen.
